A distinctive voice.
A living musical heritage.
Mazdak Alipour is an internationally recognized, award-winning Iranian musician, kamancheh virtuoso, vocalist, composer and artistic director based in Los Angeles. His career spans more than 30 years of performance, composition and musical exploration.
Born in Khorramabad, he began his musical journey under the guidance of his father, master kamancheh player Faraj Alipour. The maqâms, poetry and musical traditions of Lorestan remain central to his artistic voice.
His work brings Persian traditional and folk music into dialogue with original composition and improvisation. The expressive sound of the kamancheh and his Lori vocals connect the heritage of the Zagros Mountains with contemporary audiences.
For presenters, universities, world-music festivals, performing arts venues and agencies, Mazdak offers an artist-led approach to programming, with the musical setting selected for the occasion.
Earlier recordings and awards may appear under the name Moslem Alipour, now performing as Mazdak Alipour.
